Receives Honor for Third Consecutive Year

PORTLAND, ME - October 13, 2014 - Winxnet, an IT outsourcing and consulting firm that meets the complete technology needs of private and public sector organizations, has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the third year in a row.

"This is an incredible honor to be named to this list for a third consecutive time," said Chris Claudio, CEO of Winxnet. "Each year the fields get more and more competitive, and I am very proud of our company and staff for earning this well-deserved recognition once again."

Best Places to Work in Maine is a statewide survey and awards program that was created in 2006 to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. To be considered for the award, companies must meet certain basic eligibility requirements (e.g. facility in Maine with at least 15 employees, in business at least 1 year). Then they must complete a two-phase evaluation process which includes an examination of workplace policies, practices, and demographics and a confidential employee survey to measure employee experience.

Four IT Myths that Could be Breaking Your Technology Budget
Posted on 10/31/2014 9:49:06 AM by Chris Claudio

Recently I had the privilege of presenting at the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce about "Effective Strategic IT Planning", a topic that I feel strongly about. All too often I hear that IT budgeting and planning is a complicated and painful procedure that business leaders feel is wrought with hidden costs, endless software and hardware upgrades and confusing lingo. I am passionate about this topic because stress and confusion around strategic IT planning is simply unnecessary when businesses have a strong relationship with the right IT partner. In this post, I am going to provide some highlights from my presentation regarding the common "myths" of IT budgeting, with the goal of giving you more confidence and peace of mind during your next IT budgeting cycle.

HIPAA: How We Got to Where We are Today (In Five Minutes)
Posted on 10/30/2014 9:53:32 AM by Don Reczek

As you know from our previous posts, we are committed to serving as your single point of contact for all HIPAA Compliance and Healthcare IT questions. Getting and staying HIPAA Compliant can be a daunting task, with updates and changes to rules seeming to occur faster than healthcare organizations can keep up. We thought a handy historical list of events that are relevant to you and your organization would be important and helpful, since it seems that a quick search for a simple HIPAA timeline yields less than straight forward results. Use this infographic as your go to source for important HIPAA dates.

While we have talked about ways you can get and stay HIPAA compliant in previous posts, mere plans are no longer good enough. Unless you have a Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP) with HIPAA experience on staff, being fully compliant is a tall order. If you think your current IT provider isn't up to the task of providing the most up to date HIPAA Compliance consulting, then it's time for a serious conversation.

What's Your Cyber Security Plan?
Posted on 10/27/2014 10:40:52 AM by Dr. Eugene Slobodzian

If someone asks you what your Cyber Security Plan is, do you have a meaningful and truthful answer ready? Or, do your eyes glaze over and you get a vague pit in your stomach, because you know that you are just hoping that "it" doesn't happen to you. "It" is a data breach and no matter what size your company is, you are at risk for one. High-profile hacking stories at retail and restaurant giants such as Target, Home Depot and PF Chang's have made the headlines. But every week, small to medium businesses nationwide deal with data breaches and must maneuver staggering federal and state data breach notification laws and regulations. Otto Pizza anyone?

Is your company ready? Have you plugged up all the holes in your IT systems? Do you have a viable Information Security Program? Do you have the resources necessary to help mitigate an attack? If a data breach happens, how do you manage your company's reputation?

On Tuesday, October 28th, I, along with Clark Insurance and Fletcher Media, will present a Cyber Security Planning Seminar, free to executive leaders, practice managers and IT personnel. Find out the latest trends in cyber security insurance; data breach laws and regulations; IT vulnerability testing and crisis communications planning and action plans. This is an invaluable resource to business leaders who have a responsibility to protect their customers' most sensitive information.
