2016 Privacy and Security Forum Boston

At the beginning of December, the Privacy & Security Forum conducted an event to bring together senior healthcare IT professionals and subject-area experts to discuss cybersecurity and protecting an organization's data. This forum was held in Boston from December 5-7th and targeted days of keynote speakers, case studies, panel discussions, and discovered how organizations are preventing, detecting and responding to today's most daunting threats.

Breach Notification Protocol

Last week, I posted about an event conducted by the Privacy & Security Forum in Boston at the beginning of December. This event brought together senior healthcare IT professionals and subject-area experts to discuss cybersecurity and protecting an organization's data.

During this convention, there were three major takeaways and highlights. The first being 'Cyberattacks aren't going away', the second highlight was 'Breach Reaction Plan' and the third takeaway was 'Onsite HIPAA Audits on the horizon for 2017.'

Don't Forget! Lock Your Computer

When it comes to security, there are a lot of technologies and tactics that can help keep your organization and data secure. If you work in an industry with regulations about privacy, such as a hospital, financial institution, or company that possess sensitive information, leaving your computer unlocked could have serious consequences.

Although you may trust all of your employees, often you can't be 100% certain who is coming in and out of the office. Wandering eyes aren't outside the realm of possibility and there's no reason to make it easier for sensitive information to get in the hands of the wrong person, even if they do work for your organization. Getting into the habit of locking your computer is even more important when you are working outside of the office.

On the Moves:

Katelyn Pukanski

Katelyn Pukanski recently joined Winxnet as a Customer Service Agent in the Portland office. Katelyn has over nine years of hospitality experience with her most recent position as a Bar Manager at the Tilted Kilt in Portland. Katelyn attended Simmons College with a major in Nutrition and University of Southern Maine where she received her BA in Hospitality and Tourism! Her vast experience will help Winxnet continue to grow its client base.

Sam Phinney

Sam Phinney recently joined Winxnet as a Remote Support Specialist in the Portland office. Sam comes from the Bangor area, where he worked in IT for the University of Maine and at a local computer repair shop. His vast experience in computer hardware and management will help Winxnet continue to grow its growing client base.
