Microsoft .NET Core 2.0 Release
Earlier this week, Microsoft announced .NET Core 2.0 as a final release. .NET Core 2.0 is a fast, lightweight and flexible platform for creating web applications and services that run on Windows, Linux and Mac devices.
Microsoft’s primary goal with .NET Core and .NET Standard is to make sure of its application programming interfaces (APIs) consistent across all .NET versions.
Here are the top improvements and benefits for .NET Core 2.0:
- Cross-Platform: With the 2.0 version, you can now create .NET Core apps from Windows, Linux and macOS devices.
- Unified: With the new release of .NET Standard 2.0, you can now leverage the .NET Standard library to target all platforms with the same code and use the same languages and tool. You have access to multiple language support, Language Integrated Query (LINQ) async support and more.
- Fast: TechEmpower benchmarks listed .NET a top performing web framework with high performance server runtime for Windows Server and Linux.
