Protocol Rx [Case History]
Advancing healthcare technology holds the promise of increased efficiencies and cost savings within the current healthcare climate. These technical developments include innovation in electronic medical record (EMR) applications. (EMR applications are an information system that allows storage, retrieval and modification of patient records used by medical practices and hospitals.) Winxnet partnered with Refill Management Systems (RMS) to develop Protocol Rx, which provides computer-aided decision support to medical assistants and nurses assisting physicians managing medication refills.
Protocol Rx is designed to track clinical data from a patient’s electronic chart and compare it to FDA monitoring recommendations. The Protocol Rx solution manages the medication refill process by collecting clinical data, such as blood tests, office visit and blood pressure readings from a patient’s electronic chart. This patient-specific data is then compared in real time with customizable refill standards and immediately provides recommendations to the user, such as additional testing needs, office follow-ups, and allowable number of refill days. Protocol Rx targets the issue of medication refills by instantly delivering holistic, individually tailored and appropriate medical advice.
RMS designed the solution which Winxnet built. Maine’s largest medical practice, InterMed P.A., has signed a two-year contract with Winxnet for delivery of Protocol Rx. Given the thousands of medications available, tracking their monitoring requirements is a task that Protocol Rx will relieve for the medical practice as it provides patients with high quality medical care.
