Two Maine companies partner to create an innovative software solution to manage medication refills.
MAINE, Jan. 1, 2011 — Advancing healthcare technology is considered one of the solutions to the burgeoning healthcare crisis. Innovation in electronic medical records (EMR) holds the promise of increased efficiencies and cost savings. Maine-based Winxnet and Refill Management Systems (RMS), joined forces to develop Protocol Rx, a solution vaulting over these regular efficiencies to deliver the real benefit of intelligent data analysis.
Protocol Rx manages the medication refill process by collecting clinical data, such as blood tests, office visit and blood pressure readings from a patient's EMR. The patient-specific data is compared in real time with customizable refill standards and immediately provides recommendations to the user, such as additional testing needs, office follow-ups, and allowable number of refill days. "Protocol Rx targets the huge issue of medication refills by instantly delivering holistic, individually tailored and appropriate medical advice," says Dr. J. Scott Patch, M.D., a family physician and RMS founder.
Winxnet, application and development software solutions provider, partnered with RMS, a healthcare solutions provider, to develop Protocol Rx. RMS designed the solution which Winxnet built, illustrating Winxnet's trademark ability to establish successful application development partnerships that deliver high-quality, custom solutions to satisfied clients. "This successful venture with RMS demonstrates that our approach allows us to develop groundbreaking solutions tailored to meet a client's needs," says Chris Claudio, Winxnet's CEO.
Dr. Patch agreed with Mr. Claudio, saying, "we are pleased with the results Winxnet delivered. Winxnet stepped up and not only met the challenge but exceeded our expectations. In fact, InterMed P.A., Maine's largest medical practice, recently signed a two-year contract with us for delivery of Protocol Rx. Winxnet's commitment to quality product delivery – on time – helped make that possible."
