Planet Shoes [Case History]

As one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States, Planet Shoes is an online retailer dedicated to maintaining consistent site accessibility. Because of its need for user-friendliness, the shoe retailer partnered with Winxnet to identify and create a solution for the site’s performance issues.

Before formulating a plan to address the company website’s input/output needs, Winxnet conducted a SQL Server Health Check to find problems affecting site availability by determining if the databases were running as they should be. The poorly performing queries and bottlenecks in both code and hardware were then identified.

Following the Health Check, Winxnet put together a plan to rewrite the SQL Server code. As a result, the Planet Shoes site performance problems are gone, the site was stable throughout the holiday shopping season, and there are no signs of server resource setbacks. Consequently, Planet Shoes is able to increase its sales. Planet Shoes is now a Managed Services partner with Winxnet, which became its remote DBA and provides a full range of IT solutions.
